About
My work explores identity, immigration, belonging, and what it means to be American. As a first-generation American of Dominican descent, I use photography to better understand my own identity while documenting the people and places around me. I am drawn to overlooked spaces such as abandoned buildings, empty lots, and changing neighborhoods. To me, these places hold stories about the communities that once occupied them and reflect ideas of change, struggle, and resilience. Immigration is also an important part of my work. I am interested in how people adapt to new environments while holding on to their history and culture. I also photograph nightlife and dance culture, focusing on the energy, freedom, and connection found in these spaces. Through my photography, I want to capture honest moments and stories that are often overlooked. My work is a way of exploring where we come from, where we belong, and how our experiences shape the way we see home and community.
